Mandragola V by Canto Perfume. A bewitching fragrance named for the hypnotic, narcotic effects of the poisonous mandrake, Mandragola V is a seductive woody floral fragrance that layers enticing citrus and mesmerizing florals over a sensual oud base. The scent opens with a vibrant and vivacious effusion of Mediterranean citrus laced with anisic hints of absinth and precious, suede-soft Italian saffron. Heart notes are an elegant floral garden of tempting Bulgarian rose, rose musk and jasmine tempered with woody nuances of petitgrain and guaiac. A rich base combines a deep, entrancing accord of Cambodian oud with vetiver, vanilla pod, amber and musk to produce an alluring, aristocratic trail.
This woody floral composition was created by Paolo Terenzi. The scent was first released in 2016 by Terenzi’s niche label V Canto as part of the Red Collection, a series of fragrances inspired by Lucrezia Borgia’s rumored passion for potions and poisons. Other scents in the collection include Stramonio, Stricnina, Cicuta and Lucrethia.
